Meditation Classes
Meditation

Meditation has become central to both my life and my teaching. I completed an 18-month meditation teacher training with the Buddhist monk Jitei, and continue to study with him. It has quietly shaped the way I hold space, the way I listen, and the way I try to show up for myself and for the people who come to class.
These Tuesday evening sessions are designed to be practical and grounded. Over six weeks we explore two areas of practice. The first is mindfulness of breathing, which is one of the most well researched and accessible ways of calming the nervous system. When we learn to work with the breath, we begin to notice that we have more choice in how we respond to life than we might have realised.
The second area is the Brahmaviharas, sometimes called the four heart practices. They are simple, beautiful and often quite surprising. Through guided meditation we cultivate kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity, not as abstract ideals, but as real, felt experiences. Many people find these practices shift something that has been quietly stuck for a long time.
Sessions are small and supportive. There is space to sit with what comes up and space to be quiet when you need to be. If you are new to meditation, you are very welcome. If you have meditated before and lost your way with it, you are welcome too. There is no right way to arrive.
No previous experience is needed and no particular ability to sit still is required. Just a willingness to show up, and a little curiosity about what might be possible when you give your mind some room to breathe.
Sometimes the smallest pause in the week turns out to be the most important one.
